It's been a tradition for my mom, sister, and I to get together to bake Christmas cookies. Since our weekends are all busy this year, we decided to do our baking weekend as a baking "night." My mom drove down last Wednesday and arrived at my house around 3:15pm. My sister was there shortly afterwards, and we started baking around 4pm. It was a LONG and tiring night for sure, but fun...and now we all have lots of goodies for sharing, guests, and ourselves! :) We made all our usual suspects: frosted cut-out cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, cornflake wreaths, chocolate covered toasted coconut, and chex mix. We also made some spritz cookies this year for a cookie exchange my mom is in. Luckily Brad and Kyle were there to help us frost and decorate the cut-out cookies - those things are tiring! Your creative genius kind of goes away after 5 or 10 cookies. But I have to say, my mom has the BEST cut-out cookie recipe ever! They end up sweet, soft, and delicious! Overall, the night was a success, and we have lots to show for it.
