Eleanor: 3 Months

Eleanor turned three months on Saturday March 28!  She is 24 inches long and weighs 10 lb 11 oz.  this puts her around the 70% for height and only the 6% for weight.  The doctor was okay with her weight gain though, said we'll just make sure she still gains at her 4 month appointment.

At 3 months Eleanor is not getting any better with sleeping.  She has a 5 hour stretch first, then proceeds to wake every 2-3 hours to eat, and eats all day every 2-3 hours.  I can't complain though, because she's still small and needs to eat to gain weight.  But man I sure wish we'd get a little longer first chunk of sleep at night!  We've been trying to put her down around 8:30pm, and some nights it works better than others.  We're in a weird phase where she can't really put herself to sleep, but she tries, and so then it takes awhile and we end up having to rock her anyways.  She won't take a nuk but she tries to suck on her fingers.  Some nights it works out that she eats at that time so the she falls asleep nursing which is nice and easy!  She still sleeps in the pack n play in our room.  We tried to transition to the crib but it didn't go well...we'll try again soon.

Nursing is going okay.  We've been working on her latch.  She only nurses on one side usually and I think she kind of gets lazy once the fast milk is gone.  She's also starting to be distracted by noises, Bennett, and trying to talk/smile at me when she nurses.  So that's another challenge!  She also still does not take a bottle, but we're starting to practice and she's getting a little better at it.

Eleanor is doing great developmentally.  She coos and talks all the time at anyone who will smile at her.  She smiles when we look at her and talk to her.  She startles at loud sounds and can follow me across the room with her eyes.  She's starting to grab things, like the toys on her playmat, and also has some interest in chewing her Sophie the Giraffe toy.  She also started rolling over!  Yikes!  Anytime we lay her on her back and don't sit and talk to her, she immediately rolls onto her tummy.  But she hates her tummy so then she gets mad and you have to pick her up.  The rolling makes sleeping/naps a bit challenging too.

In Florida Eleanor loved the warm pool (She loves baths too), and she loved going for nightly walks.  That's good news since we love to do that when the weather's nice.  Eleanor is getting really good at sleeping in the carseat which makes taking her places easier.  We've ventured out to dinner with friends once or twice, but only to kid-friendly restaurants.  We can't go anywhere nice until we can get a babysitter, which means Eleanor needs to take a bottle and have a more consistent bedtime routine/schedule.

Overall, Eleanor is a happy baby.  She likes to be held and talked to.  She is sometimes gassy/fussy but Bennett always was too.  I have so much fun dressing Eleanor up! :)
