Isla's sleep is pretty much the same. Bed is around 7pm, wake up around 6:30am. She wakes to nurse 2-3 times per night and goes right back down. We've had a few nights lately where she was harder to settle in the middle of the night and she was awake for an hour or so, but that isn't common. Also she's been battling cold after cold and ear infections so I think that's got something to do with it. Naps have been pretty good and consistent which is nice! She goes down around 8:30 usually for an hour, then again around 1 for 1.5-2 hours. She needs to have one nuk in her mouth and one in her hand to go down, haha. She does love to read books before bed. Her favorites are Good Night Gorilla, Mommy Calls Me Monkeypants, and I Love You Through and Through. She will let you know if you do not choose the right book. This girl is opinionated!
Isla is still nursing. Because of all her sicknesses I just can't bring myself to force her to wean, as much as I can't wait to be done with it. She nurses before naps and bedtime, in the night, and maybe little bit here and there throughout the day. She drinks water from a sippy cup really well, and eats 3 meals a day plus snacks. She reminds me a lot of Eleanor because she does not have a lot of patience for her high chair and if she's not feeling well, she won't be very interested in food. Some of her favorite things are cheese, strawberries, ham, steamed veggies, and anything sweet (cinnamon rolls, cookies...!).
Isla is learning so much lately. She can point to things in books (like animals). She knows where her fingers and toes are. She tries to brush her hair with Eleanor's brush. Isla can also follow simple directions (bring this to daddy; sit down). She loves to dance and clap to music. She does decent in the car lately which is nice (although it takes lots of toys and snacks). She does well most of the time in church nursery, although she has one woman she likes the most who is there every Wednesday when I go to Coffee Break. Isla LOVES Bennett and follows him around and always laughs at him. She loves to wave "bye bye" when he goes to school on the bus each morning. She does not always have as much patience for Eleanor, who often tries to pick her up and carry her around. :)
Isla is very POINTY recently. She has started pointing and grunting when she wants something, and leaning towards it if you are holding her. Usually these are things she should not have, like our tooth brushes (her own is not good enough), all the things on the drying rack, or cookies on the counter. She also Loves to climb on things, so I have to watch her very carefully. Her favorite places to climb are on Bennett's airplane chair which she can use to climb up onto the end table and then stands on it, and the kids' craft table (she will get up on the chair and then go on the table and stand up). If we go play at someone's house who has stairs, it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep her away. She's also getting a lot more stable with walking and is starting to almost run-walk sometimes. She still HATES when she falls on her butt. She's hard to take places like stores because she wants to walk and has very little patience for being contained in the cart. Brad likes taking her on errands but he will just carry her. She really likes to be out and about; it's just hard to give her as much freedom as she wants at this point. :)
We have Isla's one year appointment on Monday, but I feel like I've seen her doctor a lot this winter due to all our colds/ear infections! Unfortunately her weight has not increased a ton since 9 months mostly due to having low appetite with all her sicknesses. We can't wait for summer over here!!!
Some pics of her Valentine birthday party!
