Today we had Isla's 12 month check up with her pediatrician. The appointment went better than I was expecting. Isla has a bad diaper rash from the antibiotics she's been on for her ears, and I was worried it was yeasty, but it's not. So we'll keep treating it with aquaphor and A&D cream. I was also worried her ears would still be infected, but they aren't - yay! One was perfect, and the other had clear fluid. Her growth looks steady too, which is good. She had a whole week of barely eating when she was on Cefdinir and thankfully now her appetite is back and she's gaining weight again.
Her weight is 17 pounds, 11 ounces (18%), her height is 28.5 inches (20%), and her head circumference is 45cm (49%). The doctor said she's very proportionate and staying on her own little growth curve, so I was really happy about that. She also had a blood draw for lead and iron and both were good, which I'm so thankful for! The only bad thing was that Isla's tear duct still gets goopy when she's sick with a cold, and the doctor said that it probably won't fix itself anymore at this point. She said she would probably recommend a referral to an eye doctor who would look at it and likely decide to probe it and open up the blocked duct. She said we may want to wait and see how the next month or two go with her ears because if she ends up needing tubes we may be able to do both at once.
Isla was super smiley with the doctor but she did NOT enjoy her blood draw and shots and boy did she let us know. She continued to cry well after the whole ordeal was over and didn't calm down until we were out of the office. Poor girl! Hoping we get a good nap out of it. She's such a sweetie and we are so thankful that she's becoming easier and more content as she gets older. Praise God!
