This little lady is seeming more and more like a big girl...even though she's still small for her age! She can wave hi/bye bye and is starting to work on clapping when we say, "Yay!" She pulls up and even CLIMBS on everything! I cannot really take her outside very much because she crawls all over and puts every.single.thing she can find into her mouth. So I end up having to carry her which she is not too happy about. If we are out and about she'd rather be out of her carseat...so now she sits in the regular shopping cart or stroller when we go places. She also starting to bounce a little bit when we sing...we say, "Dance Eleanor!" and she kind of bops up and down. At this age, Bennett was standing up from a sitting position and taking one step before falling down and Eleanor is nowhere near that. She is one speedy crawler but not super steady when standing up yet. Eleanor loves to be carried around and will come sit on my lap for a minute at a time, but then she squirms and wants to go play and explore. I would say she is very curious and independent. She's not a big lover of cuddles and sitting still on my lap, but I'm learning to be okay with that. This lady wants to move! :)
Besides nursing twice a night (she pretty much eats every four hours, night and day), she also eats breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day. She will pretty much eat anything you put in front of her, except fruit. She is not a big fan of fruit. I think sometimes it's maybe too sour/tart for her. I try to give her some baby food mixed with cereal still at most meals just to give her some extra good stuff. Otherwise she pretty much eats what we're eating, unless it's spicy or not baby-friendly. We haven't been great about trying the sippy cup so when we give it to her she mostly just chews on it. We have been working on a bottle of mixed milk/formula before bed lately in hopes she will sleep longer and I think it's working....she usually doesn't wake up until 1am lately and she used to wake up at 11/11:30pm. Oy.
Eleanor is a super happy baby, and giggles all the time, especially at Bennett and Daddy. She is a little stranger-danger shy if someone she's not used to tries to hold her unless she's had a little time to warm up. Even Grandma and Grandpa if she hasn't seen them in a little while! Otherwise she's kind of a ham and likes to be silly and get attention for it.
A big change around here is that we've transitioned away from taking naps in the swing! It was not easy and those first few days when she napped for such a short time in the crib I seriously considered giving up, but we stuck with it and she's been doing pretty well. She wakes up easily if Bennett is loud and sometimes can't go back to sleep but overall I'd say she takes about an hour morning nap and a two hour afternoon nap in there. We do have to play the swing music to help her fall asleep but then she just uses white noise after that. It's good timing, because we are passing the swing on to my brother and sister-in-law in just a few short weeks!
We did try to go off Eleanor's reflex medicine about a month back since it seemed like she was doing well and we hadn't increased it in a long time, but after a few days she seemed to be uncomfortable so we are back on for now. At her doctor appointment today she was 27.5 inches long (40%) and weighed 15.5 pounds (9%). So she's little but growing consistently. One bummer was that the doctor could still hear a heart murmur. We were hoping she'd outgrow it by this appointment. Since we can still hear it, we have to see the cardiologist again. Heart murmurs can be fairly common, especially in children, and most of the time are considered normal. Prayers that this is the case for Eleanor! We love our sweet silly girl so much and can't wait to see her continue to grow and learn! :)
