Swimming

The kids just finished up 6 weeks of swimming lessons at the Y.  It's super close to our house, and they happened to have their classes back-to-back so it was convenient for us to go.  Eleanor and I went at 5:55 on Mondays and Ben and Brad went at 6:30.  The other half of the pool was open for Open Swim, so Ben and Brad usually played in there until it was time for their class.

Eleanor LOVED swimming lessons.  At her age, it's mostly just singing and moving through the water to get comfortable.  We did work on kicking her legs a bit, too.  She just thought it was a blast.  She loved splashing and kicking.  Her favorite part was throwing toys around that she could "swim" to.

We had done swimming lessons with Bennett when he was 7 months old, just a fun class like Eleanor's, and he really liked it.  Well.....in toddler class they do a little more actual swimming, and he was very apprehensive about it all.  The first few weeks he clung to Brad for dear life, and he never got super comfortable being splashed or putting his face in at all.  But he got much more comfortable by the last week for sure, with jumping in, being on his back, etc.  We will definitely do it again next winter!

Reminds me of the old days at Joannes (remember Mike?!)! We are just finishing up a swim class today, too. But I only have Isaac in a class. I suppose it is time for me to get back in the pool for the parent and tot class with Emma. Isaac was 6 months in his first class... (Poor second child)
