We officially have an awake baby! Isla still sleeps a lot, but she has been having more and more periods of being awake. When she's awake, she is still unsure what to do with herself, so we spend a lot of time bouncing/rocking her, nursing her, and helping her use the pacifier. So far she LOVES napping in the swing, so we usually try to put her there at dinner. She loves being swaddled but hands out so she can have them by her face. At night she sleeps in a co-sleeper bassinet thing next to me, and does pretty well. We are getting three hour stretches at this point. During the day, she nurses every two hours, sometimes sooner if she's awake and fussy. She's getting better at nursing, but still probably ranges from 4-15 minutes per feeding. But she's growing well, so that's a good sign.
At her two week appointment Isla weighed 7 pounds, 15.7 ounces! She gained an ounce a day since our last appointment and surpassed her birth weight, which are the two goals for the two week appointment. The doctor said she looked perfect. Isla is 20.5 inches long, which is the 62%, head circumference is 35cm, which is the 42%. Weight is also the 42%.
Isla's going to have to be a pretty easy-going baby. :) Here Eleanor was giving her lots of toys - "Not on her face!" And sharing stickers... The kids are both really good with her. They love to help me get diapers and her nuk, and love holding her (with help of course!).
Starting to be an awake baby more!
And this girl LOVES her nuk!!
Happy 2 weeks sweet Isla Lucile!
