Bennett is 4!!!

Oh my word- how is my baby boy FOUR!?!  At four I would say Bennett seems way more boy and less toddler/baby.  He's recently gotten into some little superheros (PJ Masks), loves sports now, and just is super high energy like ALL.THE.TIME.

Bennett still sleeps 7:30pm-6:30am.  He usually falls asleep right away, even though he now shares a room with Eleanor and she talks/sings well past 8pm some nights.  He no longer naps, but does a "rest time" during the afternoon which usually includes an hour of puzzles, coloring, or playing quietly by himself.  Then we'll do something the two of us for a half hour (craft or baking usually), then he can watch a show or two.  His favorite shows recently are PJ Masks and Octonauts, though he'll pretty happily watch anything (TV lover).  He is actually getting really good at independent play, and will often go outside and play in the sandbox or the yard by himself during rest time.  Although he much prefers to have you or friends to play with.  He is not very shy and will introduce himself to other kids, "Hi, I'm Bennett, what's your name?"  He is such an energetic boy, but also very sensitive at times.  He cries easily if Eleanor takes his toys or he gets hurt.  He gets excited when he gets special attention/time, and will say things like, "This is the best day ever!"  He loves hugs, kisses, and cuddles.  His 3K teacher said the aide had to stop sitting on the floor with the kids during story time because Bennett just always jumped up to sit in her lap, and then it became a fight for all the kids to sit on her lap. :)

Bennett is still not a great eater with family dinner, but is slowly getting a little better.  He realizes that we will make him at least try a few bites so most days he fights less.  We still sometimes end up at the table for a long time or using a timer (which he HATES).  Some of his favorite foods are pizza, peanut butter and jelly or honey, strawberries, chocolate chip pancakes, and pretty much any snack or dessert.  He loves going to restaurants, especially Culvers!  On Saturday nights we always do pizza and a movie, and so Papa Murphy's is also one of his faves and was actually his birthday dinner request.  We love having movie nights, but Bennett gets scared easily of the bad guys and intense moments.  Some of his favorites so far are Frozen, Tangled, Trolls, and Madagascar.

Some of Bennett's favorite places to go are the zoo, library story time, friends' houses for playdates, and visiting family.  His friends are Cora, Mason, Ethan, and Koyen, although he really likes and gets along with anyone.  He still considers Mason his best friend. :)  His teacher says he plays with everyone at school and gets along well with the other kids.  Bennett loves playing outside.  He is also really into playing games, like tag, or board games, like Chutes and Ladders.  He loves working at his craft table coloring and cutting.  And he loves school!  He loves to work on letters, read books, and write words.  He loves pretend play and will play house/hospital with friends or act out/talk his little figurines.

Bennett is in 3K at BCS and has a teacher (Mrs. Adams) and an aide (Mrs. Mews).  He absolutely loves them both and loves school.  He is starting to be able to tell us about his day and what happens, mostly what they do in the gym for large motor time.  He is VERY excited to bring cupcakes to school for his birthday tomorrow.  On his "report card," Bennett is doing really well academically, and improving behaviorally.  He really only seems to be energetic and sometimes needs reminders for hands to himself, following directions, etc.  We really love his school!

Bennett loves Isla!  He's definitely not as interested in her as Eleanor is, but will help bring me diapers and put her nuk in when I ask him to!

Bennett and Eleanor are such buddies!  She wants to do EVERYTHING he does and usually he loves having her around.  Sometimes she takes his toys and then he gets mad and cries in frustration.  He doesn't usually hit/push her or just take them back.

This day Bennett found our Bananagrams game and wanted to make words.  I helped with PIG and HAT and he did the rest! (Pig, Apple, hat, sad, butterfly, butter, carrot)

On his birthday, Bennett wanted to have some friends over for a playdate.  It was a beautiful day so we all played outside!  Then for lunch he chose mac and cheese, and for dinner we went out to Murf's.  The custard flavor of the day was Birthday Cake so that was perfect! :)  Then after dinner we got his birthday cupcakes made and decorated for school the next day.  Uncle Robert and Aunt Missy came to visit, and we got FaceTime calls from Grandma and Grandpa and Casey and Amanda.  We also got video messages from Emma and Isaac.  Bennett loved his special day and was really excited all day long!  I asked how he got to be so big and he said, "I just woke up this way!"

Then on Wednesday Bennett celebrated his birthday at school.  He got to be the line leader, got a special birthday sticker to wear, and Mommy, Eleanor, and Isla came in for snack time.  We read a book to the class with his help (Bear Snores On - his choice), had the class sing Happy Birthday (he looked around at each table during the singing), and shared Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes with his classmates (blue frosting for the girls and pink for the boys).  Then we stayed for a little bit of playtime before heading home.  It was a fun little morning and you could tell that Ben was super excited we were there!

Love you so much buddy!!!
