Bennett went for his 6 month check-up today. Our doctor was impressed with his strength and smiles -she said he seems very social, which he is! He will smile at anyone who talks to him, and giggles at nearly all kids! I told her he's not really saying many consonants yet, but she said she can tell he "talks" and coos a lot so that's ok...she said he should be saying consonants by 9 months.
Bennett weighs 16.1 pounds, which is the 21% (last time he was 23%, so he's staying pretty consistent which is what they look for). He was 27 inches long, which is the 61% (last time he was at the 44% - so he got longer than expected I guess). She was happy with his growth curve.
She also gave us the all-clear to start doing more meals (she suggested he start a morning "meal," working up to eating three times per day by 9 months). He's been doing well with baby oatmeal, but she suggested to go back to trying more fruits and veggies.
One other thing the doctor said is that we (by "we" I mean mostly the babysitter) could try doing scheduled nap times throughout the day instead of "on demand." Bennett naps based on when he wakes up, which is always different lately. So she thinks scheduled naps will make his wake up time more consistent too. He does usually nap around 8:30-9, and again around 12:30-1....so probably we'll try to make sure it's near those times.
Bennett also had several shots, including the flu shot. It was so sad to watch him smiling and giggling at the nurse, and then suddenly change to a screaming cry when she did the shots. Poor boy!
