Eleanor: 3 Weeks!

Eleanor is 3 weeks old already!  She is still sleepy most of the time, but has some days where she's really awake.  Awake days are tough and she's usually pretty fussy because she just can't do anything yet.  When Eleanor is fussy I pass her over to Brad, because she almost immediately falls asleep on him!  She almost NEVER sleeps in my arms unless I'm rocking her...I think she just smells me and feels like she should try to eat.  And when she tries to eat but isn't really hungry, she gets fussy and an upset stomach.  Eleanor has had some troubles with being gassy/fussy, so we're hoping that clears up on its own eventually.  I occasionally give her gas drops which seem to help, and I remember having to use them pretty early on with Bennett, too.  At Eleanor's 2 week appointment the doctor said it was perfectly fine to use them as needed.

Eleanor smiles fairly often, though probably still not on purpose.  She smiles a lot in her sleep but sometimes when I'm talking to her and she's dozing off to sleep.  It's pretty sweet and cute! :)  Eleanor sleeps in the pack-n-play and rock-n-play sleeper next to our bed.  She usually sleeps 3.5-4 hour stretches the first two stretches, then eats every 2 hours the rest of the day.  At night she usually nurses just on one side, and during the day she'll sometimes do both.  During the day she naps all over - from my arms, to the swing, to the boppy lounger.  She probably does best in the swing or boppy lounger!  She prefers to be swaddled but likes to keep her hands by her face, which means she needs little mittens or sleepers that have fold-over hands (which thankfully, are all of her 0-3 month ones!).

We've started putting outfits on her which is fun.  She's still in size NB diapers but has grown out (lengthwise) of newborn sleepers, so we're in 0-3 mostly, some 3 if her 0-3 are all in the wash. For outfits she's mostly wearing all 0-3 stuff.  3 month outfits are still way too big on her.

Eleanor is a sweet baby and we love getting to know her!  Bennett is so sweet with her which just melts our hearts!  He loves to give gentle kisses and "hold" her (with our help and a pillow, sitting on the carpeted floor).
